Turn off rectified audio PPRO Fall 2014

Is there a way to turn off rectified audio in the current release (Fall 2014)? I know they moved some options around within the application, but I can't seem to find it.

Effects Control Panel + Cross Dissolve

Is this a bug in PPRO CC 2014? I get different views in the Effects Control Panel when using different types of cross dissolves. Here is what it looks like with the film cross dissolve:

With the standard cross dissolve, the options to adjust the alignment are not present. I am coming from CS6 and it wasn't like this in previous versions. The reason I don't like the change is because sometimes I want to force PPRO to duplicate frames on the next clip, but I can't drag the cross dissolve to the center and there aren't any options in the control panel to do so either. Am I missing something? The only option I have is to use the film dissolve. Thanks for any insight.

Drop down list of effects like in After Effects?

How many poeple would like to see a drop down list in the menu bar for effects and transitions similar to what is in After Effects? I get tired of twirling open folders to apply an effect quickly. Seems like it would be an easy feature to implement. Where do we send feature request? I'm only aware of where to send bugs. Thanks.

I am amazed at how fast new features are coming out for CC. It seems like they never had this many new features in an update when there were perpetual licenses. I'm glad to see that new features and bug fixes can have a fast turn around. How is it possible that PPRO CS6 still has the bug where keyframes can't be moved to the end of a clip in the effects control window? Drives me crazy that during the life of CS6 they won't fix it...

*If you don't know what I'm talking about, view it here. The video says version 6.01, but it has been there from the start of CS6 and remains...Yes, I have submitted a bug fix.

Create a new solid layer above the current selection

I have seen people ask how to create a new solid layer above the currently selected layer over the years, so I thought I would just pass this on. While working on previous projects I would shy layers to limit the movement of new solid layers, but with the completion of a recent project that had over a couple hundred layers it was too much of a hassle. Therefore, I downloaded the script "Create Trimmed Adjustment Layer" from AE scripts and modified it to create two variations. One variation will create a trimmed new solid above the currently selected and the other will create a new solid the length of the comp above the currently selected. Not really rocket science, but very useful. I use rd_ScriptLauncher so my new layer options are just a click away. The script is easy to modify and it can be changed to create some other variations of new layers within a comp as well.

I had version 10.1 installed on my phone and I just recieved notificaton on the Marketplace live tile that I had an update. It was for Adobe Reader. I ran the update and now I have version 9 back on my phone. Really bumbed to be reverted back to version 9...when will versoin 10 be back?

I have a complementary upgrade to Production Premium CS6. Can I download and install the trial until I get the serial number, then just enter the serial number in the trial version? Any difference from the retail version? Thanks.

Upgrade Price Speculations Production Premium CS5.5 to CS6?

Anyone have an idea of the cost to upgrade from Production Premium CS5.5 to CS6? Right now you can buy the updgrade from CS5 to CS5.5 for $399 + 10% off until the 15th. If you buy the CS5 to CS5.5 upgrade now, you get CS6 for free. Wonder if buying the CS5 to CS5.5 upgrade with a free copy of CS6 for $360 will be cheaper than the CS5.5 to CS6 upgrade. If you are still on CS5, seems like a not brainer. Thoughts?

Lightroom 3.3 Corrupt Thumbnail Previews

I have just noticed a problem that I have not encountered until I upgraded to 3.3. After I export my images as jpegs, the thumbnail previews are not complete for a few of the files. I get about two corrupt thumbnails in Windows Explorer out of 100 exported images. Here is a screenshot showing what they look like.

The images are fine when I open the files, but the previews are not complete. I would like to fix it so my clients don't get "broken" thumbnail views. Has anyone else seen this problem? Suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Missing MSVCR71.dll Error Message During Launch

I just wanted to pass along an error message that I have found the solution to and have passed onto Adobe through the bug submission process.

I have discovered a QuickTime Component that causes Adobe Encore CS5 to give an error message during launch. The Error message states “The file MSVCR71.dll could not be found. Please reinstall Adobe Encore to resolve the problem” (Well, it is something really close to that. I did not write down the error message before fixing the problem). There is an “OK” button below the message to continue loading Adobe Encore.

The error message is only displayed if all other CS5 programs are closed. During my findings, I discovered that if you open Adobe Encore CS5 through Premiere Pro CS5 or After Effects CS5 by using Dynamic Link, the error message will not be displayed.

The QuickTime Component that causes the error message is “XiphQT”, which is used to play Xiph formats in any QuickTime based application. The Component can be located here: http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/

When installing the latest version of the program “Juicer” from digital juice, the QuickTime Component is installed. Juicer will run without the Component, but gives a message that it is missing. I have removed the Component since I use Encore to a much greater extent.

To remove the XiphQT Component from QuickTime, you must remove it manually because when QuickTime is uninstalled, the Component is left behind and will be a part of future installations of QuickTime.

While the error message displayed during the launch of Adobe Encore CS5 is not detrimental, it can be frustrating, so I hope this may help others that receive the error message from above. I should also note that I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Premiere Pro Preset: Fast Sepia

Canon Technicolor Custom Camera Profile Users

I just wanted to share an RGB Curves preset that is really close to the LUT s-curve provided by Technicolor for use with their custom camera profile. I wanted to create a curve using a GPU accelerated filter so I can retain realtime playback. Hope it helps out.

4 Point Edits - Typo or Bug?

I have been working with 4 point edits and everything is going well, but I found one action that does not work according to the PPRO CS5 Help documents. Listed below my post are the steps to make a four-point edit from the PPRO Help documents. The second bullet under step six states that you can perform an insert edit and only shift the clips on the target track by holding down the Alt button and clicking the Insert button. I have found that it does not work as described. Clips that are located on tracks other than the target track are shifted as well. The only way that I can perform a 4-point insert edit and only shift the clips on the target track is to turn off the sync lock for all tracks.

I wonder if the instructions for a four-point edite have not been updated since Sync Lock was introduced or is this a bug? Can someone else confirm if the action listed in the second bullet for step six works or not?

Make a four-point edit

In a Project panel, double-click a clip to open it in the Source Monitor.
Click the headers of the tracks in a Timeline panel into which you want to add the clip to target them.
In the Timeline, drag the source track indicators to the headers of the tracks into which you want the clip components to fall.
Using the Source Monitor, mark an In point and an Out point for the source clip.
In the Program Monitor, mark an In point and an Out point in the sequence.
in the Source Monitor, do one of the following:
- To perform an insert edit, click the Insert button
- To perform an insert edit and shift clips in target tracks only, Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac OS) the Insert button .
- To perform an overlay edit, click the Overlay button .

1080p DSLR Footage Playing Backwards

Playing DSLR footage from my T2i is great in CS5 (even scrubbing the timeline), however, when I use the shortcuts JKL to move forwards and backwards there is a delay in playing clips backwards on the timeline or in the source window. Playing 1080p footage forward only uses about 25% of my CPU, but playing the same clip backwards uses around 90% of the CPU and plays jerky. If I play a clip forwards (L), stop (K), then backwards (J), there is a delay in playing the clip backwards. Is this normal? It doesn't happen with less compressed formats. I assume that it is due to the high compression in the codec. Does anyone else notice this behavior?

32 Bit Version CS5 Default

I have both the 32 bit and 64 bit version of CS5 installed on a Windows 7 machine. When I open Photoshop files or send files to Photoshop, they open in the 64 bit version. However, my plugins are 32 bit and I want the 32 bit version of Photoshop to be the default version. Is there a way to make the 32 bit version the default when opening files? Hope that makes sense. Thank you.

Bridge CS5 Export Panel Displays Nothing

I have installed the updated for Bridge CS5 to version 4.0.2 and the export panel does not display anything. I can select a group of images and right click, choose export to hard drive, but nothing happens. Then when I exit Bridge I get a warning message telling me that Bridge will clear out all queued files from the export panel.

I have the Bridge Export Panel working fine on my laptop, but my main machine is not working. Does the Export Panel require internet access? That is the only difference I can see between the two. I would think that I would at least see the option to export to my hard drive . I wonder if Bridge needs some services to use the Export Panel that I have turned off since I am not online?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Large Images + MPE Hardware = Decreased Performance?

I have been enjoying the performance gain of using the GPU on my graphics card (GTS 250) even though it is not officially supported. I have found that some timelines that take the CPU to 95% in software mode play back using only 25% using the GPU.

I have found only one anomaly so far and I am not sure if it is specific to the mercury playback engine using hardware, using an unsupported card, or just my card/system in particular. If I place large (over 4,320 pixels alone the long edge) Jpeg pictures on the timeline (DSLR 1080p @29.97), animated the position and scale using the standard motion effect and apply a cross dissolve, the MPE using hardware will crash during export or bring it to a very slow grind. It is the only case that I have found where exporting in software mode is much faster.

However, if I reduce all the images so that the longest edge is below 4,000 pixels, the speed of the MPE using hardware returns and exports work fine. I am curious to here if others have noticed any performance lag/problems from using large images?

I was just playing around with the pixel bender plugins inside CS5 and the pixel bender plugin checkerboard does not work. I receive an error message. Has anyone else been able to get it to work in AE? Just wondering if there is something wrong with my machine. Thanks.

Error Message Updating Photoshop to 12.01

I have been trying to update Photoshop to 12.01 using the standalone download but I recieve and error message stating "Another instance of Updater is Running". There is nothing by Adobe running and restarting does not help. I have not been able to update any of my Adobe CS5 (Raw 6.1 or Bridge 4.02) products yet...very frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed the CS5 Production Premium and everything is running great, except for one error. If I have a clip (DSLR from a T2i) on the timeline and left click it and select "Replace with After Effects Composition" I get an error message stating that I have to have the Production Premium Suite for that feature. However, if I open After Effects before I try to replace the clip with a composition from AE it works fine. Once I use the "Replace with After Effects Conmosition" command once, I can close AE and use the command again and everything works. It seems like I have to have PPRO and AE open at the same time on the first attempt to send files to AE. Once I restart my computer, I have to open PPRO and AE at the same time in order for it to work again. Also, any dynamically linked files from AE show up as offline in PPRO the first time opening a project after restarting my computer. Does anyone else have this problem?

Uninstall Mocha AE (CS4)

I have AE CS4 and don't need Mocha AE V1 installed with it. It is possible to uninstall just Mocha? I looked around the folders, but I can't find an uninstall file. Thank you for any help that you can provide.
